He has covered nearly every position of both the sell-side and buy-side of the real estate world throughout his impressive work history. He knows first-hand what it takes to work as an analyst, a portfolio manager, a salesman and a banker. This well-rounded perspective is one of the many ways he stands out from his competitors. Peter is highly skilled at all of the fine details involved in private debt and equity transactions, such as origination, researching and structuring, and he is able to perform these abilities in both the residential and commercial real estate sectors.
While he is more than capable of handling any size venture, Peter Plaut has always felt at-home negotiating large-scale projects with high-value clients. He has made numerous high-profile connections over the years with multiple private equity firms, family offices, and sovereign wealth, pension funds, and alternative asset managers. As a result, his ability to serve his clients is enhanced by these long-standing relationships. In addition, his easy mannerisms instantly make other people feel at ease and comfortable, regardless of the position they hold.
Currently, Peter Plaut also holds the position of Executive Director of the Wimmer Family Office, the top real estate investment bank of 2020. In this capacity, Peter invests in large-scale real estate projects monetized between $100 million and $1 billion.
Prior to his work with Wimmer in the United Kingdom, Peter was stationed in New York City where he was employed as the Managing Director for Oberon Securities, a specialized real estate investment banking company. Altogether, the Oberon team have closed over $30 billion in real estate deals and were the recipients of the M&A Advisor Award for Deal of the Year for transactions valued between $100 million and $1 billion.
Being an executive manager in the world of real estate investment banking is an area where Peter feels right at home, but he initially sought a different career path. After high school, Peter attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Economics and Computer Science. Even in those early, days, his leadership and personality stood out. He served as the President of Epsilon Delta Sigma’s management honorary society and was the President and Founder of the RPI Chapter of the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity.
After graduation, Peter sought a career in the world of finance and has never looked back. He has since combined his natural talents for negotiating deals and managing money to work in both the financial sector and the world of real estate. Throughout his decades of experience, his peers and customers alike have come to know him as someone who can effectively solve problems through careful negotiation and collaboration.
